Welcome to Oxford Stitch, LLC. I am so glad you found me.
I am currently offering small retreats to help stitchers learn and advance. It matters not if you are a complete beginner, or if you are more experienced. Working with Phillipa Turnbull and The Crewel Work Company is an honor for me and my goal is for these retreats to support you and to move you in the direction you would like to go. It would be my privilege to help you on this marvelous, beautiful, and fun journey. We will be working with the very highest quality materials and will focus on best practices in a supportive and warm environment.
Like any skill, stitching requires practice, and it is important to practice the correct way.
I’d like to show you two examples of my stitching. The first is my very first attempt. It is a needle case. It is sweet and I was so very proud of it when I made it.
The second is my interpretation of ‘Rowan Tree’ which is a favorite of mine. I have stitched it more times than I can count. In my opinion, it is a very beautiful kit designed by Phillipa and sold by The Crewel Work Company. These two photos illustrate a couple of things. One, even ‘bad’ stitching is lovely. And, two, instruction – good instruction – is critical. These two pieces were stitched about 8 years apart and clearly show the impact that a fantastic teacher can have.
Normally, retreats like these are held in a shop or in a function room. However, I am going to be holding many of these retreats in my home. My dreamy studio is better stocked than any shop in the United States, I absolutely love my home, and because – well – that is the very best way to welcome new friends.
A chance to spend uninterrupted time with an extraordinary teacher in a beautiful home setting? Snap it up! Harriet has been guiding me through needlework how-tos for 30+ years and we’re not done yet! Whatever your level, Harriet will meet you there.

For decades Harriet has guided me through a variety of sewing and quilting projects. She is an amazing teacher. Patient. Smart. Funny. Her home is an escape. A perfect place to learn, relax, and create. What could be better?
