Working with The Crewel Work Company for more than a decade has been an honor, a privilege, and an adventure.
When I test a kit for The Crewel Work Company, what I am stitching is typically already in kit form but needs to be checked and perhaps edited. This might be because it is a re-release, or because the stitch instructions or charts don’t measure up to Phillipa’s very high standards. In that case I use the existing stitch instructions and the stitch chart to check for errors or things that might be made clearer.
There is always constant communication with Phillipa and her team during both processes. The discussions are dynamic and fun. In fact, sometimes downright hilarious.
If I am honest, there have been a few times where I have been asked to stitch a kit to which I would not typically be drawn. I have found that it is then I most often stretch my skills and understanding of the process. For sure, I have learned so much and I have loved every single stitch.
